I’m Love. Why does Love matter so much?

I am re-reading Viktor Frankl’s “A Man’s Search for Meaning”, a compelling book of suffering and resilience, a true experience in motivation to find the meaning of life, with Love at the core. Poignant pages detailed within the Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz, Frankl was forced to explore his beliefs right down to their core. He states,

“For the first time in my life I saw the truth as it is set into song by so many poets, proclaimed as the final wisdom by so many thinkers. The truth – that Love is the ultimate and highest goal to which man can aspire. Then I grasped the meaning of the greatest secret that human poetry and human thought and belief have to impart: The salvation of man is through love and in love.”

Love matters so much because it motivates, it protects, it connects, it aligns, it frees us from suffering. But using that language makes Love a thing- a lowercase love. The Love that really matters, the Love that transforms and has the capacity to shift political agendas, mend social catastrophes, repair broken homes- this Love is one of BEING- your very existence, rather than an emotion or a thing. It doesn’t take anything more than deciding that YOU ARE LOVE, to BE Love. No app needed, no special diet or pill, no routine or regimen, not even yoga or meditation. Just say, “I’m Love.”

Viktor Frankl said “I’m Love.” Through his being, from his core, he was Love. He was a free man, even within the severe confines of a concentration camp. No matter where you are, who you are, or what circumstances you face, you can choose to BE Love.
